Garment steamers FAQs

Who makes the Vaporella?

The Vaporella is only made by Polti. Safety, quality and service are guaranteed country wide with more than 40 years of experience from a company that invented the first steam generator iron for domestic use, as well as a leading manufacturer of steam cleaning and ironing appliances.

Can a garment steamer replace an iron?

A garment steamer cannot replace an iron completely. However, it is a great appliance for removing small creases and ensuring you always look put together even when you travel. It is also extremely useful for freshening up fabrics and removing food and smoke odours.

What does a garment steamer do?

A garment steamer is perfect for anyone who doesn’t have the time to do lots of ironing yet needs to have their garments looking flawless or do last-minute touch-ups before going out. It is ideal for freshening up clothes when changing over your wardrobe between seasons, as it removes small creases and eliminates odours with the steam it creates. It is also recommended for anyone who wants to remove persistent odours, such as smoke or cooking smells, from garments that are difficult to iron, such as jackets, coats or delicate, embellished fabrics like lace. It is particularly good for reviving household textiles too, such as curtains and upholstery.

Can it be used on any type of fabric?

Yes, the Polti Vaporella Vertical Styler is suitable for all fabrics, from the most delicate to the sturdiest. The steam output adjustment allows you to tailor the desired temperature to the fabric type. For more delicate garments, we recommend that you prevent the head from touching the fabric but rather dispense the steam at a distance.

Is it also effective on sturdy fabrics?

When it comes to thick or particularly sturdy fabrics, we recommend setting the steam delivery to maximum and attaching the appropriate brush accessory. The bristles will open up the fabric fibres, helping the steam to penetrate deeply.

What is the best way to remove small fabric creases with a garment steamer?

To remove small creases, we recommend moving slowly over the fabric, from top to bottom, taking care to keep the fabric taut. To help you do this, we recommend stretching the fabric in the opposite direction. For shirt sleeves, on the other hand, we advise moving the head from the cuff to the shoulder.

Does it require an ironing board?

No, the advantage of garment steamers is that they do not need an ironing board. Garment touch-ups can be done directly on the hanging garment.

What type of water should I use?

All Polti Vaporella Vertical Styler models have been designed to work with tap water. If your water is particularly hard, please refer to the instruction manual to see what to do.
